TWU Of America Says No To New Union Hall, Is it politics?

The Twu Local 100 leadership has been looking for a new union hall since they have taken office, now that one was found, the Transport Workers Union Of America has denied the right to purchase a new union hall to service it's members. I suspect politics! What happened to true trade unionism? Nobody should stop local 100 from moving forward not even for political reasons! stop the politics, we are supposed to fight the anti labor movement not ourselves just because of internal politics. The TWU of America must respond and give a reason why they are trying to stop it's biggest local from succeeding for it's members. Stay Tuned!

  1. maybe there is some corruption deep inside so we must look deeper to see it.Money corrupts even the best of us most people have a price point that islow or high or in between but few have the balls to stand up for the right things in life

  2. We should all stand up for what's right! We struck in 2005 and had to sell our Union Hall so that the city couldn't liquidate it when they fined us, but now that the markets are low, the opertunity to buy cheap is here. As a member of this union, I have to protect not only my interests, but everyone who has ownership in our local. Blocking a sale of a property just because you can has implications that somebody wants to see someone else fail. I'm not here for that, I'm here for our members. This shit stinks to high heaven. I want answers, and so should the members!

  3. Is TWU's right to buy being blocked buy the seller of the property or the International TWU?

  4. Donald,
I aprreciate you keeping the membership involved, and as leader I am sure you will agree that it is important to provide the facts.

The International IAC-TWU did nit block the sale of the Brooklyn property in fact, we have been working with the Local leadership in resolving some of the open items. We (IAC) APPROVED the purchase of 350 Livingston, and the 62-64 Flatbush Ave. The only property that we have issue with is the 345 Schermerhorn. If you check with the Local Leadership they can explain the problem with that particular property.

  5. To President Little; Thanks for your comments and input.
Many of us here at local 100 feel the crunch of the politics that goes on between past administrations and current. I must say factually that this has happened far too many times. I'm only hoping that we can all do the right thing by our membership because at the end of the day its all about them.
As you are aware we are in need of our own building, and obtaining that property benefits this local, its membership and the IAC-TWU
